Heather Cabrera is a native of Brooklyn and graduate of the NYCPS, Heather Cabrera is a recovering science/ math educator, having taught in NYC, San Diego, Connecticut, Hawaii, and Boston. She transitioned to serving as a School Improvement Specialist for the Chesapeake Coalition of Essential Schools and then DC Public Schools. Upon return to NYC after this 15 year walkabout, she served as the Executive Director of Student Support in District 79, the Director of Program for a Brooklyn charter network, and District Specialist focused on Data and Science for the CUNY and Urban Assembly District.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, Heather volunteered as a site supervisor for a grades 3K-12 Regional Enrichment Center (REC) and then served as the onsite administrator for Manhattan High School. When not at work you can find her supporting public kayaking in the East River. She is excited to be joining the NYCPS Science Collaborative team.
