Maricris is an assistive technology supervisor at the New York City Public Schools. She is a founding member of the NYC Center for Assistive Technology and has led the team of AT evaluators across various AT service delivery including evaluations, training, professional development, and implementation support. Maricris works closely with district administrators, and educational coaches and leads teachers in establishing best practices on implementation of AT for education. She enjoys working directly with students and teachers to empower them with technology that breaks the barriers of disability and levels the playing field. She believes in building capacity in the schools. Maricris’ expertise in AT for multiple disabilities is instrumental in the development and provision of Citywide professional learning opportunities in collaboration with the Office of Special Education to support Accessible Educational Materials and Universal Design for Learning initiatives. She is RESNA Certified, has been a licensed pediatric physical therapist for over 20 years, and has worked in the field of Assistive Technology for 17 years.
