Patricia advocates for accessible, intuitive, and consistent user experience across all the organizations she has worked for. Recent NYC DOE projects Include:
Creating a number of online classes in digital accessibility—available in both live-lead and on-demand formats.
Partnering both within and outside of the NYC DOE to ensure that the 1600+ webmasters get their 3-hour annual training in digital accessibility
Evaluating school websites for WCAG 2.0 AA compliance, and coaching school-based staff to help them improve their sites
Before joining the NYC DOE Patricia created interactive online and print curriculum for UNICEF, the United Nations, California Department of Education, The National Academies, National Geographic, and Girl Scouts of the USA (where she was Director, Elementary Program). Prior to that, Patricia was a MS/HS classroom English teacher in a variety of settings including urban, suburban, public and private boarding schools.
Patricia has a MA in English Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College and a BA in Theater from Trinity College (CT, not Dublin).
