He is currently working to help bring computer science to elementary schools citywide through the CS4ALL initiative. As a former technology coach for New York City’s Special Education District 75, Lionel provided professional development and in-school support on best practices and integration of educational technology, computational thinking and digital fluency into the classroom. Lionel recognizes the importance of computer science and digital literacy in all classrooms, but especially in special education where it is vital to meaningful content and tools to engage all learners. As a middle school special education teacher and technology coach, he has seen the success computer science has with students in special education programs.
